If you have on on-site well and wish to keep it for watering your flowerbed or washing vehicles, a backflow prevention device must be installed to prevent cross-contamination should the pressure in the water main drop. An annual test of the backflow preventer is required unless the well water is completely segregated from the discharges connected to the well. Again, PA American Water is the resource for these questions.
