Fire Company

The Westwood Fire Company serves the entire Township with fire, rescue and emergency medical services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In areas that are outlying portions of the Township, assistance from mutual aid fire companies is sought. 

The fire company is a combination department with career Firefighters, Paramedics and EMTs and is subsidized by approximately fifteen volunteers.  The fire company currently houses four pieces of emergency fire/rescue apparatus for use on various calls.  Our apparatus includes a pumper-tanker, a pumper-rescue, a multi-use tac truck, and a traffic unit.  Each year, the Fire/Rescue division will respond to an average of 475 calls for service.  

The Ambulance Service at the Westwood Fire Company has been in operation since November 16, 2000, when we started as a BLS ambulance and in recent years are providing MICU transport service with Paramedics.  In 2011, we began a full-time career EMS department and now consists of over 50 career Paramedics and EMTs.  Our station on Valley Road operates two MICU transport units and two ALS chase vehicles.. 

We do have an ambulance subscription for Valley Township residents, and being a member of this offers huge cost savings to you in the event of needing our emergency care.  The informational letter should be received in your mailbox in January of every year, and your payment for membership is good for that calendar year.  More infomation about this can be found on our website, www.westwoodfire.com.

The Westwood Fire Company is highly active in Community Relations and Fire Prevention. Each year, a presentation is given at local schools teaching students the importance of fire safety.
