VALLEY TOWNSHIP ANNUAL CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY
Saturday, December 10, 2016
The proposed 2017 Budget (click here to view) reflects a real estate tax increase from 1.5 mills to 2.0 mills. For a house assessed at $100,000 this will be an increase of $50 for the year. The proposed budget also incorporates an increase in the trash fee to $265 a year or $66.25 a quarter. The additional $14.25 a quarter equals an additional 16 cents a day. The trash fee was last raised in 2006. Over the last 10 years, the labor/benefit rates, landfill tipping fees, fuel and maintenance costs have continued to rise but the trash fee had not been increased to keep up with the actual costs.
The water and sewer rates for 2017 remain the same.
The proposed adoption of the 2017 budget will be on the December 20, 2016 Board of Supervisors public meeting agenda.
Valley Township's Solid Waste Ordinance, (Ordinance 86-10, as amended) §203 "Containers for Garbage and Rubbish" states "Every resident . shall provide portable vessels or receptacles of a capacity of not more than thirty-two (32) gallons nor less than ten (10) gallons of a recognized type of garbage can to be watertight with lids and handles to be kept outside of the residence, building, apartment house ...". Residents may set out up to four (4) receptacles as per §204. (click here to view Ordinance)
Trash containers that are larger than a capacity of 32-gallons will not be collected. Enforcement action, as outlined in the ordinance, could result in a citation enforceable by the District Justice. (click here to view Resident Notification Letter)
Valley Township will begin to strictly enforce the ordinance effective January 1, 2017.
It has been reported that some residents have received a notice regarding a ”Water Update" from AWP. (click here to view)
Please note that this is NOT from Valley Township!
Some consumer reviews indicates that it is a scam
and "bait and switch" company.
