It is half its original size having been reduced in size by the incorporation of the Borough of Coatesville in 1867 and in 1868 by the creation of the Township of Caln.

U. S. Census Bureau Verifying Data - Please Cooperate

While the data collection phase of the 2010 Census has wrapped up, the U.S. Census Bureau is now performing systematic quality checks of census takers' work. The phase of the operation includes visitations, phone interviews, and address verifications. During these quality checks, officials will verify the questions that appeared on the Census form either in person or by phone. Visitors and callers will not ask for personal information such as Social Security, bank account, or credit card numbers. Your continued cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Valley Day 2010

This year's Valley Day, held on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the Westwood Fire Company, was a huge success with a record crowd in attendance. The day could not have been the success that it was without our volunteers and the kind generosity and support from the many sponsors and contributors. Please take a look at the Valley Day sponsors on the attached link and be sure to patronize these businesses.

Valley Township to Fight Pennsylvania American Water Company Proposed 178% Rate Increase

Pennsylvanian American Water Company (PAWC) has filed with the PUC a proposed rate increase. Four PUC hearings were well attended by residents who will be affected by this increase to voice their opposition to this proposed increase. Under the proposed new rates, the typical residential customer's wastewater bill would increase from $27.43 per month to $90.26.

Valley Residents - Earned Income Tax (EIT)

Valley Township's EIT and LST collector is Central Tax Bureau (CENTAX). Our EIT is 0.5%. The other 0.5% that is withheld is for the Coatesville Area School District and this tax is collected by Berkheimer. Therefore, your employer should be deducting a total of 1% for earned income tax from your paycheck. Please check your paycheck stub to make sure you are only having 1% deducted. If you are having more than 1% taken out, your employer may mistakenly be deducting the City of Coatesville EIT rate, which is higher.
